Adding meta data to images can be helpful if you want to display images with captions and descriptions with FSI ImageGrid.

This tutorial shows you how to add meta data to images in FSI Server. The tutorial Displaying an image grid shows how it can be displayed with the grid viewer afterwards.

Adding meta data

In order to automatically display captions and descriptions in an image grid, you need to add this information to the meta data of an image.

Adding meta data to multiple images at once

In order to add new meta data fields to images in a folder, go to the Metadata tab and select all images.

Choose the categories you would like to add text to (in our case we want to add the same photographer as Credit to all images), type in the text.

Click on the three dots next to the title in order to open the context menu and choose the option Apply to all selected files.

Confirm the action in the pop up dialog.

Adding meta data to one image

In our example we would like to add a title to the image in the grid and a short description. For this, we want to use the meta data fields Caption and FSI Extra. The latter one can be used for longer texts and formatted with HTML formatting.

For this we first need to add the corresponding fields to all images in the folder.
In order to do this, go to the Metadata tab and select all images.

Click on the three dots next to the title in order to open the context menu and choose the option Add fields.

Select the fields you want to add (Caption & FSI Extra) in the pop up dialog and press OK.

In order to add individual text to an image, select the image and write the title and description in the corresponding fields. The changes will be saved automatically.
